NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course The Basic Shotgun Shooting Course is a class where students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely use a shotgun to shoot moving targets. You do not have to have prior experience as this class is open to students at any level! Topics covered include the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun actions, parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; aiming and leading; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; care of the firearm, safe storage and transportation and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination. Upon successful completion you will receive a course completion certificate. Note: This class is a pre-requisite to be a Shotgun Instructo
