NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course The Basic Rifle Shooting Course is an 8-hour class where students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to safely use a rifle. You do not have to have prior experience as this class is open to students at any level! Topics covered include the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle actions, parts, and operation; ammunition components; ammunition malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; aiming, range rules; cleaning; care of the firearm, safe storage and transportation and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination. Upon successful completion you will receive a course completion certificate. Note: This class is a pre-requisite to enroll in a Rifle Instructors course. This class is a one-day class including Range time.
