This 11-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed to organize, promote, and teach the NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting Course. Students complete practical exercises, demonstrate teaching ability, and will take the instructor exam. Topics include NRA safety rules, shotgun parts and operation, shell components, malfunctions, shooting fundamentals, range rules, cleaning, and shooting techniques. Students must bring three boxes of shells (shot size 7.5 or 8, no slugs) and a shotgun (no pump-action). Rentals available. Prerequisites: Completion of NRA Basic Shotgun with a minimum score of 90%, and NRA Basic Instructor Training (BIT) within last two years. Candidates must demonstrate basic firearm safety and shooting skills and complete a pre-course questionnaire. Those needing BIT must complete it beforehand; cost is $100.
