Pre-requisite: Must be a current NRA Personal Protection In the Home instructor as a pre-requisite for certification as an NRA Personal Protection Outside the Home instructor. This certification is not available to Apprentice or Assistant Pistol Instructors, and the Law Enforcement Division Handgun Instructor is not a substitute.
The 16 Hour (without BIT) NRA PPOTH Instructor course is focused on developing the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for Instructor Candidates to teach NRA Basic Personal Protection Outside The Home. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course and complete an instructor certification exam. NOTE: The NRA requires that all new PPOTH Instructor candidates must have completed the NRA Certified Pistol and PPITH Instructor, PPOTH Basic and Advanced courses, and BIT must be current within 2 years, along with the pre-course questionnaire and qualification PRIOR to attending. In compliance with ITAR, only U.S. Citizens and Permanent Resident Aliens are permitted to take this training. Tuition is all-in (includes all range fees, books & materials).
