NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Orientation

This course teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to own and use a specific rifle model safely. This expanded course is being tailored specifically to the Modern Sporting Rifle (AR-15 platform). Through this course, students will learn about rifle parts and operation, ammunition, accessories, rifle shooting fundamentals, and activities. The course includes classroom presentations, practical firearms handling exercises, and live fire exercises on an outdoor shooting range. The NRA FIRST Steps Rifle Course is an entry level firearms course. It is structured to provide students with a fundamental understanding of how rifles operate and teach rudimentary shooting skills. Safety is the primary consideration and will be emphasized throughout the course. Rifle ownership is required, prior shooting experience is not required. Rental firearms are not available for this course.
